In elementary school days, I took part in the festival willingly because I liked exercise such as track and field. The age group attend the festival is various, between kindergarten pupils and senior citizens. Then, I joined an obstacle race, and got the first place. I felt glad, but I remember the accident clearly than my result.
The accident happened in the next event, a running race. I didn’t join the event, so I watched with nothing particular in mind. A few minutes past, the age changed from junior high school student to senior high school. Then, my friend appeared on starting point. But my surprise, the boy who stands beside my friend on the point use crutches! People around me began to murmuring, however the boy’s eyes who has a handicap kept cool.
When the starter pistol reverberated in the racing site, the participants start running, include him. After a while, everyone except for him reached a goal and moved to the corner, while the boy’s running speed was getting slowly. Then, my friends who ran with him shouted “Keep it up! The goal is close at hand!” The boy began to run again and reached goal. After a while, my friend took a closer looked at him and said “Bad luck. But you did your best.” Later, the boy and my friend and I start taking each other.
As a result, we become friends at the sport day. And I think I learned winning isn’t everything. Exactly, winning is important, but there are many things which are more important than winning such as this case. I respect my friend’s action and want to be a man who can think without victory or defeat.
